Weather: Yet more concern
ICSurreyOnline is yet another organisation to comment on the possible extreme weather implications for athletes partaking in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Last week the Chaoyang Stadium hosted the 11th World Junior Championships and even many of the locals stated that this time of year was not a great choice to host the event - and proves to be an issue that needs to be resolved when you consider the 2008 Olympics will be held at the same time of year. Danielle Christmas ran in the 800m and commented: "There was 70 per cent humidity at 11pm. It would have been nice to have another day to get used to the pollution. It will affect long distance athletes, so it is difficult." Despite the temperature not exceeding the low 30's this level of humidity continued throughout the day and didn't allow the smog to lift.
